Meet Brad Scott
Brad encompasses everything it means to be a trader. He understands and applies the technical aspect, he welcomes the psychological work, and is always open and willing to learn. Ever since joining, he has been such an engaged member of the TMC community and we couldn't be happier to have him in TMC!
Read about Brad's trading journey and the valuable advise he has to offer in his interview below.
When did your trading journey first begin?
It first began with Infinite Prosperity and Live Trader, where I first met Irek. From there things progressed well until I got shiny ball syndrome and moved to a different strategy as I thought I would be able to make more profits.
However after 18 months trading that style I decided it did not suit my personality (it was a lot more discretionary, and I like to have solid structure/checklists I can use to justify my trades), so I decided to move over to Trading MasterClass as I found it was the best fit for how I like to trade.
What was it that made you want to pursue trading?
It originally came from my parents who attended some investment courses as they were wanting to learn how to better invest some of their spare cash and they invited me to go along. It peaked my interest as the presenter was talking about covered call strategies and how he was able to make an income whilst still holding the asset and it was mostly passive (to a degree). This really peaked my interest into how trading can provide great wealth and freedom.
What is something unexpected that you love about trading?
The psychological aspect is a never ending learning journey and I love it because it flows over into the rest of my life and the benefits from learning about my psychology provides benefits in multiple other area’s of my life.
"The psychological aspect is a never ending learning journey"
What advice would you give to an inspired, driven individual about to step into the trading world?
Trading is the easiest, hardest thing you will do. It is extremely rewarding but will challenge you a lot. Be ready to open yourself up to a never ending learning journey that will force you to learn new things about yourself that you never thought possible. In my opinion trading is honestly the best job in the world. The compounding of ones wealth and the freedom trading provides is amazing!
What do you believe are the three most important characteristics of a successful trader?
Patience - Waiting for the correct trade setup just like a sniper waiting for the correct shot. 80% of profits come from 20% of the trades.
Discipline - Sticking to your plan requires discipline as the market will provide numerous distractions for you to get side tracked with.
The ability to play the long game/trust the process - A lot of people come into trading wanting results right away. However we all know this is most likely not the case. So we need to be able to put in the work day in and day out no matter what and know that it will pay off down the line.
"Patience, discipline, and the ability to trust the process"
What are one to three books that have deeply influenced your life?
Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz - This book is amazing for changing your beliefs.
The Untethered Soul by Michael A. Singer
How has Trading MasterClass assisted your evolution?
Trading MasterClass has really helped me hone in my trading skills and has assisted me in asking the hard questions. It has allowed me to really dig into granular details about the trading strategies and really tailor the TMC strategies to suit my personality and what I feel comfortable with.
"TMC has really helped me hone in my trading skills"
When you’re experiencing chaos, struggling with your performance, or are in draw down, what do you do?
When I am struggling with performance, I go back to the basics. I strip away the complexities that may have built up and go back to pure basics. This allows me to see through the mental fog that may have formed from the performance issue.
I then do a deep analysis on the performance flaw starting with how it originated, what was the trigger and how can I reduce/prevent it from happening again. I then implement this into my trading checklist of daily habit stack.
What is your next immediate trading goal?
Continue to pass funding challenges to increase prop capital to $1,000,00 > funnel profits into my personal account (trading at 2% risk) to grow my personal account to $1,000,000 by the end of 2023.
Any final words of wisdom?
Trust the process and put in the hours. It is a never ending learning journey.
How can we keep up with you?
