Meet Emilio Chillemi

Meet Emilio Chillemi, a dedicated part-time day trader from Bologna, Italy. Emilio's journey into trading began in 2020 while completing his Master's Degree in Space Engineering. Since then, Emilio has come to see trading not just as a means of making money, but as a path to total freedom and self-awareness. Join us as Emilio shares his unique insights, unexpected discoveries, and trading wisdom in this enlightening interview.

When did your trading journey first begin?

I cannot remember exactly when I first got in touch with trading, but for sure I started taking it seriously during my university years, when I opened a small account to trade following the “advice” of a trading signals company. At that time, I was just buying/selling whatever they were telling me to, without any clear idea of what I was doing.

Last year, I found some old notebooks of mine, dated 10 years ago, with my very first notes about trading and news impact on price action, so I guess that in my mind, my trading journey had already started many years before! I joined my first community in the beginning of 2020. I was following them on Instagram and Youtube, and even before getting my Master's Degree in Space Engineering, I had already decided that it was time to finally pull the trigger and take it seriously.

In 2022 I was introduced to Trading Masterclass, and here I am!

What was it that made you want to pursue trading?

In the beginning? Who knows. Probably, I was fascinated by the “making money online” thing or the “bet some money” to make more, likely together with the “I want the lambo” thing hehe.

For sure, when I started in 2020 I had a huge motivation to obtain Total Freedom, even if at that time I was not really aware of what that means in terms of organization, routine, consistency and clarity, but I knew I wanted to earn from the markets, and obtain total control of my life. Only later I realized how this might be possible, and how much trading could offer, not only in financial terms, but personal development, life elevation and unleashing our full potential in all aspects of our life.

What is something unexpected that you love about trading?

I would say the way trading makes me love each and every day of the week, and consequently, of life.

My job has never been the classic 9-5: I travel a lot (approximately half of the year) and during my time at home I do not have office work, so I have never experienced the “oh no tomorrow is Monday, I don't want to go to work” thing. On the contrary, I cannot wait for Monday, because I know the market reopens, it is watchlist time and all I need for trading and personal development is available to me. And once all the daily necessary work is done, that’s it, time for enjoyment!

From my point of view, trading makes the week perfectly balanced. Once you can find your equilibrium, you will have the time for everything: making money, personal development, family, hobbies, enjoyment and, last but not least, rest. Maybe, in the end, the right answer should be the freedom that trading can provide, but it’s not only about that, it is the way you are free that I unexpectedly found out and that is making me love how I can live every single day.

What advice would you give to an inspired, driven individual about to step into the trading world?

Just Do It.

If you are thinking about starting trading, it means that you not only see the potential, but probably have already understood the freedom it gives. You will soon discover the fulfilment you can feel in building your own capital without depending on anyone but yourself, and the satisfaction of having everything that can be controlled in your life, in your own hands. Trading is not only a career and a way to make big money, but full awareness and control of your emotions, your mind and your time. Trading is equilibrium in your mind and in your everyday life. Without it, it's not only impossible to be a successful trader, but also to be a happy and satisfied human being.

Trading is a lifestyle. So powerful that once you start to grasp its potential, you realize that you want to do it and be your own life ruler for the rest of your days, and you will never want to go back.

"Just do it."
What do you believe are the three most important characteristics of a successful trader?

Patience. It’s simple- no patience, no trading. There will be many times when all you can do is literally only waiting. Then, at the right moment, hit like a sniper and enter the trade.

Persistence. It is not an easy or quick path, traders go through a lot of hurdles and they need to be resilient and resist until they can overcome what’s getting in the way to reach their goals.

Adaptability. A trading plan is conceived in a way, but traders inevitably need to change it, adapt it to the market conditions, to their personal taste and to what works for them, so that real money will finally start to flow.

What are one to three books that have deeply influenced your life?

The 5 Am Club by Robin Sharma: Usually, I am a quite slow reader, but after only one week, I finished reading it and I believe it really gave me a lot of value. I do not think the point is to strictly follow any indication that you find in the book, but to take them and personalize them to fine tune your life and your routine. I have already started implementing a lot of the nuggets found in the book, and I feel it will really make the difference in my future.

The Richest Man in Babylon by George S. Clason: Very easy and quick book to read, but at the same time really insightful. Not only about money, but also life and what it can bring you when you choose to follow the path you want and you believe in your work.

Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts: Differently from the others, this book is a novel. Beside the story, an amazing adventure in my opinion, the book deals with all the most important topics: Life, Death, Happiness, Fear, Love, Gratitude and so on. It really make you reflect on how grateful you should be for the things and people you have in your life, and reminds you to enjoy all the little things this life makes available for us. Really deep book that made me think a lot.

How has Trading MasterClass assisted your evolution?

Trading Masterclass made me the trader I am right now. Despite my journey starting years ago, in a relatively short period TMC allowed me to massively improve my psychology, bringing me to the next level of abundance, giving me a clearer direction not only in trading, but also in achievements and goal setting.

Technically, TMC style also became my style, and in this moment I cannot think about another way to trade or to improve in trading, but the one provided by Irek and his community.

What is your next immediate trading goal?

In this moment, I still have a job that I am planning to quit within a year. Meanwhile I am working on obtaining my first big prop firm funding. Once this goal is reached, it is all about scaling up. I still remember another Member Interview I read, where she broke down her scaling plan, which was to reach $ 1,000,000 in funded capital, to begin with. Together with Irek's advice and the weekly insights that he provides, I made that my plan too. After getting funded I will carry on with scaling, obtaining more and more funding, funnelling profits into my personal account and pushing as far as trading can to take me.

Any final words of wisdom?

From my answers you might not say that, but usually I am a person who prefers to listen instead of talking. I like to learn and discover new things, but there are times when also sharing your point of view may be constructive for others. I think we all need to find our path and way to live life, especially knowing ourselves. In the end, you are the person you are going to spend your whole life with. Learning to trade, you must also learn to know yourself, what you want to do in your life, what you like and, most importantly, what you really do not like and do not want to do.

"Learning to trade, you must also learn to know yourself."

Trading is a journey possibly lasting a lifetime, and if you want to make it a life you will remember, in my opinion, it is a path worth following. Just some nice words of wisdom I believe in ;)
