Meet Bryan Higgins

Bryan joined Trading MasterClass in December of 2019 and has already experienced a mind-boggling 20% month! However, it's not only Bryan's trading results that impress us, it's his character, his work ethic, and his willingness to collaborate openly with other traders in the club. Bryan is working extremely hard to achieve his dreams of full-time trading, and as a result, he's got a ton of valuable wisdom to share. Check out the full interview TMC recently conducted with Bryan below...

When did your trading journey first begin?

It first began late 2016 early 2017 when my girlfriend (at the time) and I were living together. Her schedule was extremely busy and I didn’t see her very often. During that time I would come home from my 9-5, make dinner, tidy up etc... What I eventually noticed is I wasn’t utilizing any of my extra time learning anything new, and being in the visual effects world as my day job, you’re on the computer all day. This being said, I had run into IP back in 2012, thought it was cool, had no clue at that point of what trading was or how it worked but it was interesting to me and I never pulled the trigger. Years went by and someone reached out to me about how I could learn trading “easily” and profit greatly. The typical get rich quick mentality a lot of these guys throw out there. I was curious enough to check it out because I had an interest at that point to learn trading, but I didn’t know what to look for really. In this case, this course was trading harmonic patterns, Gartleys, bat, cypher patterns etc. I ran demo on that for bit then went into live trading and blew up a $500 account. Mind you this company ran the narrative to recruit people, and I didn’t want to go down that road. At that point I threw up my hands and wanted to quit. I came back to it a few months later and thought, well If I want to take this seriously, I need to find a valid educator that will teach the principles and strategies properly and give feedback on my trades. IP popped in my head and I signed up for live trader and platinum. This was 2017-timeframe and Irek was already moving onto bigger better things, and I wanted to be a part of it and evolve more as trader, so I eventually pulled the trigger to join TMC.

What was it that made you want to pursue full-time (or part-time) trading?

As the journey progressed, I realized once I had this down consistently, I could do this full time. To have anything great in life, it’s a process and you will have to work hard at this to fulfill that dream. The deciding factor for me to take this to the next level and go full time was that I needed to eventually get out of my 9-5. Don’t get me wrong, working on movies, commercials, TV is cool, and I enjoyed the actual work, but when the cross roads hit, I knew trading, operating other businesses and evolving was what I wanted to do for the rest of my time on this planet.

What is something unexpected that you love about trading?

When we start trading, we don’t expect it the way we think. Trading to me is like chess, making one great trade after another, strung along years and years. The thing I love the most is how it molds you and makes you change things about yourself to really see the results you want. It reminds me of a sword being created over an open fire, constantly being hammered down to its refined sharpness, and casting an enormous strength for years to come. I have always been open to change within my line of work so changing things about myself came naturally in some sense. I also loved seeing these changes implemented and spilled over in my trading journey over time, but it also spilled over into my personal life.

What are one to three books that have profoundly impacted your trading journey / life in general? Why?

The first book would be Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T. Harv Eker. I read this book early on in my journey because I wanted to understand the thought process of wealthy people. How do they think about money in their lives, and why? This book changed the way I thought of money and self-worth. And to pave the right road for me, it dawned on me I needed to value myself and my standards in life. Most of us are not taught this so I felt it was important to know these concepts if I have a family of my own, I can teach these concepts to my children.

The other book which impacted me was Deadly Emotions by Don Colbert. I found myself in the beginning not having the most positive outlook on things. I came across this book and it intrigued me to how I can change my negative thinking patterns to have more of a positive outlook or more of a balanced outlook on things. I learned holding onto these negative feelings can manifest into other problems down the road. This book gave great insights to change the way I should think as I go through my trading journey and life itself.

What new belief, behaviour, or habit has helped you gain the most forward momentum since becoming a trader?

For me personally would be quit drinking alcohol, at least for the foreseeable future. I quit consuming alcohol about 3 months ago and it was the best decision I made. I felt when I was having a scotch or a couple glasses of wine, the next few days was just serious brain fog and would hinder me from making critical decisions. I thought to myself, what kind of value is this bringing into my life consuming this substance? For me it was close to none, so I quit.

Meditation and self-healing has been helpful for me as well. Getting calm and becoming centred has induced better decision making in my trading, typically I do this when I feel I need to. This clears the mind for any doubts I may have or limiting beliefs I need to throw away and acquire different beliefs

What advice would you give to an inspired, driven individual about to step into the trading world?

For a new driven, inspired individual who’s stepping into trading, my advice would be know why you are trading, what is the purpose of it for you? Is this for the long haul for providing for your family and many generations and beyond? Be patient with the process, trading can be difficult in the beginning stages and frustrating because of all the moving parts involved for a full understanding. The money will come eventually after you hone in your process and plan for consistency. As you go through this journey, be sure you have people around you who will support what you’re doing, this really will help ease you through the learning phases of trading. This is a game of self, you are solely responsible for your outcome in your trades, trading plan and development of mind. If you’re first starting out, learn from the best educator out there with an amazing community to help guide you through your journey. I found this was the make it or break it. That said, be sure to stick with the strategies, have a full understanding of them, put them to the test to gain the confidence you need. Jumping around from course to course, strategy to strategy will only slow down the process of your growth.

How has Trading MasterClass assisted your evolution?

Trading MasterClass has been the catalyst to my confidence as a trader. Without the TMC team, I don’t know where my results would be to this day to be honest. The core of this training has engrained better belief systems, honing in my personality and risk profile, and trade the rules I set for myself. I love the approach the team has, as this is not a spoon-fed training, you are required to make critical thinking decisions on your own to be the best trader YOU can possibly be. You are forced to better yourself as a human if you are open to it, which is what TMC has done for me. It made me a better version of myself, letting go of all the limiting beliefs I have about life, money (currency), relationships, and most of all, my self-worth. I realized after being with this amazing community of individuals, you are the master of your domain and have the power to dominate any aspect of life.

What is your next immediate trading goal?

My next goal is to reach a six-figure account and go full time within the next year and have the freedom to trade where ever I am in the world.

Any final words of wisdom?

Trading can be a lonely, frustrating and difficult game, though if it were easy, everyone would be doing it. Don’t rush the process as many traders go through many learning lessons in the beginning. Control what you can in your life and let the other things flow, the path to least resistance is key. Keep a stress-free mind in your journey and your daily life, as its beneficial to your success in trading.
