Meet Alex Tsourounakis

Let me introduce you to Alex Tsourounakis, a full-time day trader hailing from sunny Florida, with four years of experience under his belt. Alex's journey began in 2018 when he sought a way to make money online while juggling a full-time job and the birth of his first child. He quickly realized that trading offered him the life he truly desired, providing location, time, and financial independence. Emphasizing personal growth, Alex has learned that trading uncovers hard truths about oneself and demands constant growth and adaptation. He shares that the key to success is treating trading like a business and embracing uncomfortable situations as catalysts for rapid personal development. Guided by the strategies of Trading MasterClass, Alex is now on a mission to scale his trading to $1 million. Dive into his interview to uncover more about his journey, the challenges he's faced, and the wisdom he's gained along the way.

When did your trading journey first begin?

In late 2018 I signed up to an online e-commerce course and the IP trading course at the same time (not long before I had my first child). I was hunting for a way to make money online. I completed the e-com course and continued on to open 2 online dropshipping stores. I also read the complete IP course and had moved on to Forex trading a demo account. Also working a full time job, life was extremely busy. 18 days after the birth of my daughter I placed my first live trade on a 10k account. Shortly after this, I made the decision to focus solely on trading while I still worked my 9-5.

What was it that made you want to pursue trading?

I was working as a project manager for a large commercial plumbing company. I worked really hard to master my skills in that field starting from the very bottom. Those skills were great and even took me over to London, England where I worked and traveled for almost 3 years. But the more of the world I saw and the more life I lived, theses skills just weren’t enough to give me the life I truly wanted.

It was the big 3: Location, time, and financial independence that I truly consider to be success.

I need to be able to make my income from anywhere in the world. I need more time to do the things I love. And lastly have no financial ceiling over my head.

What is something unexpected that you love about trading?

Before I started trading I was always open to personal growth and responsibilities, but man does trading expose you to a lot of truth about yourself. After years of trading, meditation and yoga, I'm finally feeling real personal growth. Trading and personal growth go hand in hand.

"Trading and personal growth go hand in hand."
What advice would you give to an inspired, driven individual about to step into the trading world?

Be prepared to be pushed harder than you want to. Treat it like a business from the beginning. Yes, you are the trader making the wins and losses. But if you ever want to make it as a full-time trader, you need to get out of your own way and start looking at your decisions / mistakes as business decisions / mistakes. Not “I'm a loser” or “poor trader”.

What new belief, behaviour, or habit has helped you gain the most forward momentum since becoming a trader?

I've come to understand that catalysts are a great way to propel you forward in life. I've put myself in multiple uncomfortable situations through life where real growth happens quickly (sink or swim situations). In reflection, I've noted that these events aren’t life happening to you as much as challenges you have put in front of yourself. Whether you are conscious of it or not.

When you’re experiencing chaos, struggling with your performance, or are in draw down, what do you do?

1: Get your daily habits in order - It's all about balance. Get back to an even keel.

2: Back to the basics - If the market has beaten you up and you’re feeling scared, cut out any “potential” set ups from your watch list. Only allow what you see as “A grade” set ups to make it to your watch list. You need to feel good about the positions you take in order to limit the stupid mistake you make out of fear.

3: Intensely visualise the trader or results you want - The trader you want to be this week, this month. Not necessarily the guy with a Lambo.

How has Trading MasterClass assisted your evolution?

Irek, Molly and Jakub have been everything for me trading wise so far. I've only ever traded IP and TMC strategies. When I started trading in 2018, Jakub was the one running webinars over at IP and then I moved over to TMC where I've been working with Irek for more then a year. Thank you team.

What is your next immediate trading goal?

Scale to 1 million.

Any final words of wisdom?

1: Go full-time trader as soon as possible - To truly stay “consistent” you need to be full time.

2: Track you daily habits / routines - You need balance in your days. Find what works for you as quick as possible (being full time helps with this).

3: Intense visualisation - Visualise the trader you need to be now. Not a baller with a Lambo, but maybe start by just seeing a profitable month or year.
